Aging as a Spiritual Journey - Webinar
Thursday, July 23, 2026, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Category: Events
In much of modern culture, aging is often framed as a time of decline, loss, and diminishing relevance. Yet many psychological, spiritual, and cross-cultural traditions tell a very different story. Later life can be a profound period of reflection, integration, and wisdom – a stage of development in which individuals deepen their sense of meaning, connection, and purpose. In this engaging webinar, psychologist and scholar Dr. Christopher Walling explores how aging can be understood as a sacred developmental journey rather than simply a biological process. Drawing on insights from transpersonal psychology, contemplative neuroscience, psychoneuroimmunology, and Indigenous perspectives on elderhood, this talk reframes aging as an opportunity for transformation and spiritual growth. Participants will explore how practices such as meditation, life review, and mind-body approaches can support emotional resilience, cognitive health, and a greater sense of wholeness in later life. The webinar will also examine how societies can reclaim the role of elders as carriers of wisdom, memory, and guidance in a rapidly changing world. This presentation is ideal for clinicians, caregivers, educators, spiritual seekers, and anyone interested in cultivating a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the process of aging. Aging as a Spiritual Journey This webinar will be recorded. You will get access to the recording in the ARPF Academy.
